The Best Work Lunch Recipe Ever!

April 10, 2013

I love the weekends. Ah, yes, it is a time to unwind and relax after a hard week of work and other activities. It’s also a time when Patrick will make every meal of my day for me. Omelet for breakfast, pasta for lunch, pesto chicken for dinner. Beautiful, and I didn’t even have to leave the couch! You see, during the work week, Patrick will rise at about 7:00 am and prepare our morning green shakes, with all the Kale and Almond milk you could drink. Then, when I return home from my day of work, radio show, comedy, or other endeavor, my dinner is sitting on top of the stove, ready to consume! But there is a gaping hole from sunrise to sunset, I have tried to figure out a workaround to allow Patrick to leave his office downtown and come to my place of work to prepare lunch, but none of my plans have been executed correctly. Or, as Patrick says, “No, I’m not leaving work to make you lunch…” Kid has no heart, I swear, what a chump.

Anyway, I have reserved myself to the reality that I must be my own chef while at work (I have largely abandoned buying take-out food at work due to the timeshare I own and lack of available money to do so). Typically, when I go shopping for the week, I will pick up three items that will comprise to form my lunch for most of the workweek. Those are:

– Lunch Meat

– Bread

– Cheez-its or other snack food

Recently, I have identified a 2-for-1 deal that gets me the most bang for my buck. You see, if I buy cinnamon-raisin bread, I can use it for both delicious toast when I arrive to the office, and for sandwich bread at lunch time. Check out my latest recipe:

– Cinnamon-swirl Raisin bread

– Buffalo Chicken Lunch Meat

– American Cheese

– Mustard

– Cheez-its

Everyone, for some reason, that comes in contact with my meal has the same reaction. “That’s disgusting.” Really, you have never tried it. Cinnamon-swirl bread is delicious. So is buffalo chicken. What’s the problem? I feel kind of like Galileo did, no one appreciates my genius, and probably won’t until I’m long gone…
