Need a Designated Driver? Become a Chef

April 12, 2013

At this point in our arrangement it has been so long since Bill has had to cook for himself that I’m not confident he could anymore, even if he tried.  Flash forward to a few weeks ago and I am enjoying afterwork drinks with co-workers having a lovely time when I receive a text from Bill letting me know that he is coming back from New Hampshire.  I informed him that I wasn’t home and that’s when his panic set in.

Realizing that my options for getting home were either a bus or 40 dollar cab I attempted to coerce Bill into taking a detour and picking me up downtown…from New Hampshire, and it worked.

Now what occurred after this was not the proudest moment of the Cooking for Bill franchise, but we were both satisfied.  Knowing that I was not in the greatest mental state at the time I stumbled into the kitchen looking to be as efficient as possible.

The result of this inebriated experience was oregano chicken with rosemary and garlic mashed potatoes, oh and a broken cutting board…I’ll gladly trade a broken cutting board for all my fingers in tact.

Recipe:

-Slice chicken tenders and place into a skillet with about 1 cup of chicken broth.

-Season with a good amount of oregano.

-Cook until the broth has evaporated and then toss the chicken for another minute.

-For the potatoes I just used instant (Idaho Jack maybe?), and when mixing added garlic powder, and rosemary.

Easy, safe (for the most part), and quick.  This also proves that a drunken Patrick is still more effective than a sober Bill in the kitchen.

Safe Driving Tip:  If you need a designated driver just become a personal chef and you’re set.

-Patrick
