Bill’s Blazin’ Chicken Stir Fry: Hot New Recipe

“I just wish, someday, that you will be able to cook,” Colleen says, peering into the distance out of her bedroom window, making no effort to mask the disappointment in her tone.

I was being challenged as a MAN! But what she doesn’t know, is that I, Bill of Cooking for Bill, CAN cook! Well, sort of. I decided to show that I wasn’t completely helpless by preparing a meal for her and my good friend Jen this weekend while in New York. Earlier in the day, we went to a farmer’s market to pick up some fresh produce for the meal. As an amazing shopper, I quickly identified the top ingredients for my recipe (which is a take on a common Patrick recipe). Here is what you will need:

  • Bunch of Asparagus
  • 2 White Onions
  • 2 Sweet Potatoes
  • Carton of Cherry Tomatoes
  • 3 Organic Boneless Chicken Breasts
  • Head of Broccoli
  • Feta Cheese

Now, when we returned home I cleared the kitchen and began my prep work. Here is how the recipe breaks down:

  1. Forget to use all of the asparagus, one of the onions, one of the sweet potatoes, and one of the chicken breasts. You had planned to use them but just simply forgot and by the time you realize the meal is already almost done.
  2. Chop and clean the remaining vegetables that you did not forget to use, place them with some olive oil in a pan on the stove.
  3. Turn on the pan to a low simmer to get the vegetables cooking.
  4. Cut and clean the chicken breasts so that they are in smaller, more manageable pieces and briefly cook them in a separate pan.
  5. Once the vegetables have started to cook a bit, and the chicken is at least cooked on the outside, mix the two together in the larger pan.
  6. Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Actually, do this before number 5.
  7. Put the pan with everything into the oven, and let cook for 10 minutes.
  8. Take it out of the oven and check on it but it won’t be ready so put it in for another 10 minutes.
  9. Take it out of the oven again and check it but it still isn’t ready so put it in for another 5 minutes.
  10. Take it out and even though the potatoes aren’t quite there you are impatient so cooking is over.
  11. Plate the meal with a sprig of cilantro and crumbled feta cheese on top, and drizzle a bit of balsamic vinaigrette on the side.
  12. Season to your liking with Salt, Pepper, and/or Garlic Salt, and/or other things you like.
  13. Serve to women who will find you irresistibly attractive.



And that’s it guys! I served Colleen, Jen, and myself a wonderful meal, and felt satisfied that I wasn’t as useless as I thought. I have learned a thing or two from watching Patrick in the kitchen. Who knows, maybe I will become the famous chef, and he will be buying the food! No, probably not…
