BBQ Chicken and Salad: Importance of An Emergency Supply

June 25, 2013

The most interesting part of our week is typically the weekend. That’s because I go shopping on Sunday/Monday, and by the end of the week we are struggling to scrounge together whatever is left before my next trip to the store. To Patrick’s credit, he is very talented at making something from nothing, so this issue is never too overwhelming. Something he likes to do to protect himself, and what I would recommend to you, is to have an emergency meat supply in the freezer, because of all the food items, meat is the first that runs out every week.

Last week, we were again running quite low on food. I had a couple of packed days with comedy after work, meaning I wasn’t able to go food shopping until Tuesday, leaving Patrick in a less than desirable position. Fortunately, he was able to draw on his secret stash of chicken, and also some lettuce that I bought that he never uses because he hates salad to prepare a very simple, but very delicious culinary creation.

Gold ole fashioned BBQ chicken over a simple salad. Here are the ingredients:

  • BBQ sauce
  • Chicken
  • Salad

Although Patrick likes to be a bit of a food snob now, when faced with the ultimate challenge he resorts back to the basics. I like to do that for him, to keep him humble. I think maybe I won’t shop for a couple weeks, just to see what he can do with the challenge. Some call me a visionary, but I don’t think so. I just think I’m a hero.
